I wrote down some words from a book that I’d read
I put it to music, I had a song in my head
Many years later it was played back to me
And time had revealed something I did not want to see
I believe those words were mine for a short span
I had the gifted spirit of the sinner man
These are words that Jeffrey Halford and Don Zimmer scratched on paper years ago and received the raw acoustic arrangement in February 2021. Entirely in style and seamlessly in line with the times in which we live now you could say. Halford isn’t getting any younger and brooded on these words until he heard the church bell chime. Dutch music magazine Lust For Life was one of the many who discovered the germ of Jeffrey Halford and The Healers new album SOUL CRUSADE by writing: “Anyone who knows a little about Halford’s career will admit that this is a restless soul who makes restless music. He is always looking for new ways to express himself.”
The video was recorded during the lockdown in March 2021 for the Wijn & Dein event in Son & Breugel in the Netherlands. It was an initiative of Lazy Sonnie Afternoon and Kloosterhotel Restaurant La Sonnerie. The whole evening was about being inspired, tasting fine wines and snacks, and enjoying great live-streaming music. Local and international musicians (Chris Ronald, Annie Keating, and Guy Verlinde) were part of this very successful online evening.
